2019 Denver Broncos Ministry Update

One of the most incredible opportunities I get to be a part of on Sundays in the Fall is the postgame prayer at the 50 yard line after Denver Bronco home games.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that has athletes kneeling in prayer in a public way proclaiming their allegiance to Jesus win or lose. Those spaces are sacred and I love watching athletes who were just competing against each other take one another’s hand as the color of our jersey and the color of our

skin is cast aside to pray and give thanks for another opportunity to do what God created each of them to do.

The ministry with the Broncos has been a 3 year journey and it seems that every year the Lord continues to open doors within the organization. Although I am committed to confidentiality when it comes to which players are at chapel and Bible Study I can assure you that the Word of

God is being taught, questions are being asked, communion is being shared and Jesus is being lifted up in that locker room and in the hearts of men.

Its no secret that the season has not started the way everyone wanted and inevitably the one question I get from people is how hard my job is when the team isn’t winning. To be honest, my job is not dependent upon wins or losses. My commitment, concern and care is not based on someone who is All-Pro or on the Injured Reserve list. My commitment is to encourage the men spiritually and help them grow into disciple makers for the rest of their lives.

Allyson also has incredible opportunities with the ladies of the Broncos. Her chaplain role is to lead, mentor, care for and guide the wives, fiancé’s and girlfriends of the players. They have a weekly Bible Study and Allyson had developed a strong friendship with a handful of ladies. During the bye week we had a couple of the players come up to Ft Collins (about an hour drive for them) to get away from things and just enjoy being together. I cant tell you how encouraging it was to be with them in a “non- football” capacity and just hang with them.

We have invited a few of the families over for Thanksgiving dinner and look forward to what Jesus will continue to do on and off the field within the organization.
